Cognitive Behavioural Therapist

Bridget is a Fully Accredited (BABCP) Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and Registered Mental Health Nurse. She has over a decade of experience working within Adult Primary Care Mental Health Services, completing a Postgraduate Qualification in CBT in 2010. Bridget feels privileged to have worked with many people who have been struggling with common psychological problems and challenges such as: depression, anxiety, stress, worry and low self esteem as well as more specific problem areas. They have been able to gain from this practical, structured and collaborative approach, attaining the knowledge, skills and support, to tackle their problems head on and ultimately become their own therapist. With a thorough grounding in the evidence based treatment protocols of CBT, as outlined in the NICE Guidelines, Bridget’s practice is also informed by more recent developments in the field, namely Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy. These approaches are particularly effective when problems are complex and longstanding or when coming to terms with major life changes. Bridget’s Nursing background enables her to offer an holistic approach to your difficulties, taking into account physical health conditions and the role of medications prescribed for mood management.
Bridget recognises the value of a strong and active therapeutic alliance and approaches sessions with warmth, kindness and understanding, hopefully infused with a little humour at times!

"I hope you will take the time to look at my website and perhaps make the choice to embark on a journey with me to learn to manage your difficulties and get your life back on track."
